Even in the Philippines, parcels are out everywhere, with online shopping booming since the pandemic. What once was a niche market has now become a mainstream shopping habit for many, as people embraced the convenience of having products delivered right to their doorsteps.
This shift has transformed the retail landscape and has made it easier for people in both urban and rural areas to access a wider range of products than ever before.
In the US, American consumers have also embraced this shift as millions of consumers opted for the convenience of online shopping over the traditional in-store rush.

With smartphones in hand, shoppers drove US online sales to $10.8 billion, which reflects a 10.2 percent increase compared to the previous year, according to data from Adobe Analytics.
Breaking the $10 billion barrier was historic data for e-commerce which signals a significant transformation in the way people approach the biggest shopping day of the year.
“It’s exciting to see online shopping take the lead on Black Friday,” says Vivek Pandya, an analyst at Adobe Digital Insights. “What used to be all about fighting for parking spots and waiting in long lines is now about finding the best deals with a few taps on your phone. The rise of mobile shopping and helpful tools like AI-powered recommendations have made it easier than ever to snag the perfect deal without leaving your couch.”
ADVERTISEMENTThe record-breaking figures were fueled by demand across several categories, including toys, jewelry, electronics, clothing and self-care products. Household appliances also topped shopping lists as consumers sought discounts on big-ticket items.
Mobile shopping emerged as a dominant force, with 55 percent of online purchases – valued at $5.9 billion – made through smartphones. This represents a 12.1 percent year-over-year increase.
With smartphones in hand, it’s clear that people are embracing the freedom to shop anywhere, anytime. And as mobile shopping continues to evolve, it’s likely we’ll see even more of this trend in the years to come.
